Fundamentalist Christianity, additionally known as Christian Fundamentalism or Fundamentalist Evangelicalism, is a movement that arose primarily inside British and American Protestantism throughout the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries amongst conservative evangelical Christians, who, in a response to modernism, actively affirmed a primary set of Christian beliefs: the inerrancy of the Bible, Sola Scriptura, the virgin starting of Christ, the doctrine of substitutionary atonement, the bodily resurrection of Jesus, and the approaching non-public return of Jesus Christ.
